Information for Patients

Impact provides acupuncture, chiropractic and homeopathy, three systems of medicine which take a holistic view, and treat each person as a unique individual. Over the last four years, we’ve carefully evaluated our work in the clinic, and we know that we can effectively treat a range of conditions, including

  1. Depression, anxiety and other mental health problems
  2. Musculoskeletal disorders, such as neck pain and shoulder problems
  3. Back pain
  4. Chronic pain, including headaches and migraines
  5. Menstrual and gynaecological problems.

When someone first comes to us, we offer an assessment, to look at their situation and discuss together which treatment will be best. In this way, we ensure that everybody receives the treatment they need.

“I am really lucky to have been able to use the service at Impact – it is a wonderful resource for local people. The people are so friendly and make you welcome, but also they take you seriously so that you can make sense of what’s wrong with you. I can’t really think of any improvements you could make to your service – it manages to be efficient and professional, friendly and caring and lets me choose the kind of treatment I want – thank you.”

Between February 2004 and December 2006 our clinics were funded by New Deal for Communities, so people from Radford and Hyson Green, Nottingham, were able to have free treatment. Since 2001, when we began developing Impact, we’ve worked with local GPs and Nottingham City Primary Care Trust. This means that we have good links with the city’s health managers, who are aware that many people would like access to complementary medicine on the NHS. Our aim is to ensure that we make this a reality.

“Being able to come here has made a huge impact on my life for the better. It is priceless to be cared for holistically by such wonderful people. I can’t thank you enough.”

Some require a GP referral. For more details, call Impact.

You can also ask your GP to pay for your treatment at Impact. GPs can now commission a wide range of services and treatments, so let your GP know about your preferred choice of treatment.

Patients’ Forum
Our patients’ forum believes that we should all have the choice of acupuncture, chiropractic and homeopathy on the NHS, where appropriate. Members have collected around 1,000 petition signatures so far, in support of this. Many have written to local MP Alan Simpson, who also sees the benefits of complementary medicine being widely accessible. You are welcome to join the patients’ forum – whether you’ve been for treatment at Impact or not.

“It’s my opinion that all proven therapies should be offered to patients – rather than instructing a patient to ‘learn to live with it’ from my own experience….homeopathy has given me back my well being feeling and I am coping much better now after only two lots of tablets.”
